Create a grand adventure and get to know your grandchild better with a grandkid interview.
As we get older, we can sometimes feel like we’re out of touch with our grandchildren. Maybe they live a distance away or are just too busy with sports and other activities and can’t spend as much time with their grandparents.
When we do get to spend. time with them it can be hard and even awkward to have a conversation with them. But to break up the monotony and actually get to know your grandchild, try conducting a grandkid interview. It can be done at any age but it’s particularly fun when they are teenagers.
I love doing this activity with my grandkids – it’s always so much fun! Not only is it a great way to learn about them and get some insight into their lives, but it also helps me identify areas I might want to pray for them. Plus, it’s something they always get a kick out of looking back on a few years later.
I have some suggestions for questions that you can ask.
- Who is your best friend
- What do you enjoy most during a typical school day?
- What is the best gift you have ever been given?
- What’s something that makes you sad?
- What is your favorite dessert?
- If you had a superpower, what would you want to have? Why?
- What is the grossest food ever?
- How do your parents frustrate you?
- What is your favorite color?
- Do you have a favorite number?
- What do you think you are talented at?
- What is something you want to learn?
- What do you want to be when you grow up?
- What is your favorite subject in school?
- Would you rather go to school or do cyber school?
- When it comes to vacation destinations, would you prefer a beach or a wooded area?
- What is the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?
- What is your favorite place to eat?
- Which would you prefer? A cat or a dog as a pet?
- Can you write cursive?
These are just example questions, however, you can use them if you want. Think out of the box and come up with a list of questions that may target different age groups. They might look different from this list.
