Oma's Musings Simple Thoughts
Where Did The Time Go?

Where Did the Time Go?

Have you ever noticed how time seems to speed up as we get older?

When we were kids, summer felt like it lasted forever. Now, the days can feel like they’re flying by.

Part of it is routine. Life becomes familiar, and our days can start to blend together. But when we slow down, try something new, and truly notice the moments we’re living, time feels fuller again.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

Today matters. Don’t rush through it.

Slow down. Be present. Thank God for the little things.

Where Did The Time Go?

Creating Space At Home

Sometimes I look around my home and all I see is clutter.

Nothing new was added. Nothing big changed.
But suddenly, it just feels like too much.

So instead of doing a big purge, I did something simple.
I took a few things off the walls.

Not to get rid of them. Just for now.

I put them in a bin and gave my home a little breathing room.

And you know what I realized?

Empty wall space is okay.
It doesn’t feel empty, it feels peaceful.

Sometimes we don’t need to add more.
We just need to take a few things away.

And the best part is, I can always shop my house later.

A lighter home really can bring a lighter heart.

Have A Wonderful Day and God Bless You.

So Grateful for a Praying Mom

So Grateful For A Praying Mom

There are moments when I look back on my life and quietly wonder how things didn’t turn out worse than they could have.

The choices I made, the places I went looking for love, the ways I tried to do life on my own. It could have ended very differently.

But it didn’t.

And I can’t help but believe that somewhere, someone was praying for me. A mother on her knees. Asking God to protect me, to guide me, to bring me back.

I see His mercy now in ways I didn’t see then. The things He prevented. The doors He kept closed. The grace He poured over a life that didn’t always choose Him.

I am so grateful for a praying mom.
And even more grateful for a God who hears.

Do What Is Right

Do What Is Right

This morning in my scripture writing I was in Genesis 4:6–7, and I found myself sitting with one simple truth, I usually know what is right, but I still have to choose it. It made me think about how easy it is to justify small things, especially when it comes to honesty, and how those little choices can slowly take away our peace.

My husband and I were talking about this, and we both agreed that when we do what is right, even when it costs us, there is a steadiness in our hearts that you just cannot replace. God’s words to Cain reminded me that this has always been the struggle, not knowing what is right, but choosing it.

It was a good reminder for me to pay attention to those quiet moments when I am tempted to take the easier path, and instead choose the one that honors the Lord, because that is where true peace is found.

Good Stories Don't Need the Graphic Scenes

Good Stories Don't Need The Graphic Scenes

One thing that frustrates me is when my husband and I start watching a series that seems really good and interesting… and then it happens. All of a sudden, the sex scenes start showing up. And I just sit there thinking, why does it have to be this way? Is it really necessary? Can’t they just leave some things to the imagination? Why does it have to be so graphic?

And then I think about those warnings before a show even begins… alcohol use, substance abuse, abuse, sex… and the one that always makes me shake my head a little is smoking. It just feels like everything gets thrown in there.

Sometimes I just miss when a good story was enough.

Shop Your Own Home

Shop Your Own Home

This image is a reminder that we don’t always need to go out and buy something new to refresh our home. The curtains you see here were already tucked away in a closet. By simply using what was already on hand, the whole room feels different. Lighter, cozier, and more inviting.

It’s about slowing down, taking a look around, and appreciating what we already have. Sometimes a small change is all it takes to make a space feel new again.

A Mother's Heart Reflects His

A Mother's Heart Reflects His

As a mom, I know how deeply it hurts to watch your child suffer, especially through something as heavy as cancer, or to see them walk a path that pulls them away from what is good. That love does not turn off when they grow up. If anything, it feels even heavier because you cannot carry it for them. And then I think about God. If I feel this much, how much more must He feel? The Bible shows us His heart is not distant. He grieves when His children are hurting, He sees every struggle, and He longs for those who have wandered to come back to Him. His love is personal, deep, and full of mercy. Even in sickness or in sin, He does not step away. He stays near, loving them through it all.

I Don't Know What Tomorrow Hold, But I know Who Holds Tomorrow

At This Stage of Life

At this age, I find myself wondering more about the future. I’ll be honest, when a new ache or pain shows up, my mind sometimes goes there. I wonder what it will be that takes me home, or if I’ll live many more years. It doesn’t consume me, but the thoughts do come.

And I’ve realized I’m probably not the only one.

The truth is, I don’t know what tomorrow holds. But I do know Who holds tomorrow.

So I’m choosing to trust Him with every day He gives me. My days are in His hands, and that brings me peace.
