I was pleasantly surprised by Rondout Valley, a Thousand Trails Resort in Accord, New York. I am not sure why surprised. I guess because we have seen some parks that just are not nice, but so far all of our stays at the Thousand Trails campground we have visited have been pretty successful. If only, it wouldn’t rain whenever we go camping!
We were put in the “Woodlands” area of the park. I picked a corner spot and we had a lot of room. Cooper had his area to do his “thing”. You know, pretty much his own bathroom facilities. There were a lot of tent campers in that area, too. I don’t know how they do it. Tent camping is NOT for me.
The only complaint was that sap was falling from the trees. We had quite a few sticky spots on our picnic table, so I imagine the roof of the camper has them as well. Also we did not have sewer in the site. Shawn got to use the portable waste tank. I am not crazy about having to watch our black and grey tank capacity. It makes me nervous. Here is a funny video. Because we were on a gravel road, I heard Shawn dragging this thing all the way to the dumping station. He wasn’t thrilled that it was right on the main road, either.
We arrived at Rondout Valley on Thursday and on Sunday morning while Shawn was walking, he noticed an empty spot in a site that had a full hookup. Shawn called the office and they let us move to the new site. The couple next to us also has a Mini Lite. Theirs is a 2511S. They were very nice and helped Shawn back in.
It was a very nice stay except it rained for 36 hours straight! I am not kidding.
Overall, Rondout Valley is a nice park for families. There are so many things for kids to do. The pool is amazing! They also have a big community center. They also have a dog park. I was very pleased with the accommodations.
