If you’ve been an empty nester or a few years into retirement, you might find yourself in a bit of a rut, feeling somewhat bored. Recently, I’ve discovered a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm after experiencing a period of boredom.
It’s true. I was lacking motivation, energy, and joy over the past few months. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I mean, I have a good life and everything I could ever want, but I had lost interest in so many things. I was literally bored and felt like I was in a rut.
In the past few weeks, I became inspired to start a YouTube channel. Actually, I already had one, but it definitely needed some remodeling. I came across a man in his 80s who started one, and I love watching him. He had a video where he explained how he learned to start his channel. You can check out his videos here.
So, I started following this very wise young lady, and joined a community on Skool. After watching hours of videos, I discovered what my niche is.
Figuring it out was a breeze. As an empty nester, I find joy in sharing my tips, knowledge, and wisdom about life in retirement. I love discussing decluttering and organizing my home, as well as leveraging technology to simplify my life.
In some of my videos, I dive into revamping my routines. I was so bored with my daily tasks—they had become daunting and tiring. So, I took a fresh look at things like doing laundry, cleaning the house, and even chores like emptying the dishwasher. I also rearranged some spaces in my home to make them look less cluttered. Sharing these changes on my channel motivates me to do more, and reading the comments gives me the drive to keep creating content. I am being very honest when I say that I am not using AI to come up with ideas. The things I talk about are truly my random musings and ideas.
In conclusion, are you feeling bored in your retirement years? Do you want to wake up every morning feeling energized and excited? What changes do you need to make? What routines do you want to revamp?
I hope I’ve inspired you to make some changes. Find what you’re passionate about, and who knows, maybe you’ll be creating your own YouTube channel!
