Do you want to bless your husband with the power of prayer? Do you want to see him grow in his faith, his love, and his purpose? Do you want to support him in his challenges, his struggles, and his dreams? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then read how and why we need to pray for our husbands.

Woman's praying hands. Maybe praying for husband

One of the most meaningful gestures you can offer your husband is to pray for him. This act not only bolsters your connection but also enhances the bond you share as a married couple. By praying for your spouse, you open the door for God to intervene and work in both your lives and relationship. Additionally, you align your desires with God’s plans for your husband, which can lead to a more fulfilling and purposeful life together.

But how do you pray for your husband? What do you say? What do you ask for? How do you know if your prayers are effective? These are some of the questions that many wives have when it comes to praying for their husbands. And that’s why I want to share with you some tips and ideas on how to pray for your husband in a way that honors him, blesses him, and pleases God.

Here are some steps you can follow to pray for your husband:

Pray with faith

Believe that God hears your prayers and that He will answer them according to His perfect will and timing. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Pray with confidence and expectation that God will do remarkable things in your husband’s life.

Pray with love

Pray for your husband as a person, not as a project. Pray for his needs, his desires, his goals, and his passions, not just for what you want him to be or do. Pray with respect and appreciation for who he is and what he does. Pray with kindness and compassion for his weaknesses and struggles. Pray with gratitude and joy for his strengths and successes. Pray with a heart that loves him unconditionally and wants the best for him.

Pray with wisdom

Pray for your husband according to God’s Word and His will. Use the Bible as your guide and inspiration for your prayers. Find verses that apply to your husband’s situation and pray them over him. Ask God to give you wisdom and insight on how to pray for your husband effectively. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Pray with discernment and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

 Pray with specificity

Pray for your husband in detail and in different areas of his life. Pray for his spiritual growth, his relationship with God, and his salvation if he is not a believer. Pray for his physical health, his mental well-being, and his emotional stability. Pray for his work, his career, his finances, his opportunities. Pray that his boss will look upon him with favor as if it is a blessing from God. Pray for his relationships, his family, his friends, and his colleagues. Pray for his character, his integrity, his wisdom, and his courage. Pray for his dreams, his passions, his hobbies, his interests. Let us hope that their actions are in accordance with what God would wish for them. Pray for anything and everything that concerns him or affects him.

 Pray with consistency

Pray for your husband regularly and faithfully. Make it a habit and a priority to pray for him every day. Set aside a specific time and place to pray for him or pray whenever you think of him or feel led by the Spirit. Colossians 4:2 says, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Pray with perseverance and patience until you see the answers or the changes you are praying for.

As a wife, praying for your husband is both a privilege and a responsibility. It’s also a source of joy and blessings that you can personally experience. When you pray for your husband, you’re not only helping him but also yourself and your marriage. Your prayers open the door for God’s grace, power, and love to flow into your husband’s life and into yours too. Don’t hesitate any longer; start praying for your husband today and witness how God will transform him, you, and your marriage.
