A few hours before the picture was taken, my husband called me from Texas and told me he was having a heart attack and was on his way to the hospital. I made plans to fly down there that same day. The peace I felt that morning was not anything I could muster up.

Here is an excerpt from Max Lucado’s book Anxious For Nothing:

A quote from Anxious For Nothing:As we do our part (rejoice in the Lord, pursue a gentle spirit, pray about everything, and cling to gratitude), God does his part. He bestows upon us the peace of God. Note, this is not a peace from God. Our Father gives us the very peace of God.

Lucado goes on to say:

“This kind of peace is not a human achievement. It is a gift from above. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14: 27 NIV).”

“He downloads the tranquility of the throne room into our world, resulting in an inexplicable calm. We should be worried, but we aren’t. We should be upset, but we are comforted. The peace of God transcends all logic, scheming, and efforts to explain it.”

The peace I felt that morning was evidence of God’s peace. It is supernatural. The many times I had traveled alone for work prepared me for this day. Traveling became second nature for me. I knew exactly what to do. That’s why I could go to my granddaughter’s moving-up ceremony amidst my husband’s heart attack.

My husband survived that heart attack. In fact, it was his second one. He had a blockage and within a few days after getting another stent put in, he was released from the hospital and we made our way home to Pennsylvania.

I am grateful how his body warns him when a heart attack is brewing and he has an opportunity to get to the hospital. Not everyone has that chance. This is evidence of God’s grace and what amazing bodies He gave us.
