Hit Reset

It’s a common occurrence: we discover a routine, diet, or schedule that works for us, but then life intervenes, and we lose our way. Remember, it’s never too late to hit the reset button and realign with those priorities.

Have you ever felt the need to reset something? Just like when our computers lock up or freeze, we can reset them by pressing Control-Alt-Delete on a PC or using Force Quit on a Mac. This action resets the system, allowing us to start fresh. We also have the choice to restore things to their default settings.

Think about this. There are some things in our life that we can hit reset on. For instance, we can hit reset on things like our routines.

Can you recall a routine that was once effective for you but has since fallen by the wayside?

Remember how good you felt at the end of the day, that sense of accomplishment because that routine helped you accomplish some small goals? When I quit work 10 years ago, I had to make a new schedule, because, well, I didn’t go to work anymore. I had to press reset. I find safety in having a routine. I like to feel productive, so I didn’t want to slip into a day of just sitting around watching soap operas and eating bonbons. I wanted to stay productive somehow someway, so I created a new routine. Then somewhere along the line that got messed up because, well, life happens, right?

I think of the times my morning routine with God got disturbed. I can think of the many times sticking to eating healthy or an exercise routine got put by the wayside. I can think of the countless books I have started to read and never finished. Or the many times I started a journal, man I have so many starts and stops. Just because I got out of that routine doesn’t mean it’s ruined. I CAN just press reset and start again or pick up where I left off.

Are there aspects of your life that have been neglected and you wish to revisit?

It’s never too late to start over again. Is it prayer time with your husband? Date night with your husband? Going to church? A cleaning routine? Getting up and planning out your meals? Making a grocery list and sticking to it? Sticking to a budget. Sitting down with your family at mealtime. Praying at mealtime. Making a gratitude list.

Today is Monday. Today is my cleaning day and at the end of Monday I feel great because my house is just ready for the rest of the week then tomorrow when I wake up, I’m like oh that’s right my house is clean! Such a good feeling for me! Fridays are my wash day and usually, it goes into Saturday and but by Monday all my wash is done it’s all put away now. I know this is crazy for some moms to even think about any of that, but you got to start somewhere.

What ignites your passion? Is there something you once loved that has been neglected and is now causing some disruption in your life?

Hit the reset button!  Let me know what it is.  I would love to hear it and it also inspires others to be like oh yes that’s right I’d like to go back to doing that again. So that is my random thought for today. I am sure there will be many more!  As always take what you need and leave the rest and be blessed.
