Recently on a walk I had something on my heart that I wanted to share with you. It’s about grace. The kind of grace that covers our mistakes but also calls us to grow.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on meekness—not just what it is, but how it’s been slowly developing in me over the years. And the more I think about it, the more I realize how closely grace and meekness are connected.

I Don’t Want to Abuse His Grace. Even when I fall short, He’s still working on me

When I Slipped

A few days earlier, I lost my temper. I reacted in a way I’m not proud of. I even said some things that were harsh and unkind. The kind of things that, afterward, make you cringe a little inside.

It wasn’t the situation itself that stuck with me… it was how I handled it. I felt ashamed. Not condemned, but aware—painfully aware—that parts of me still need healing. Still need sanctifying.

And that’s when this truth settled deep into my soul:

Jesus died even for that.
For that outburst.
For that moment of weakness.
For that sin I wish wasn’t still in me.

Grace Is Not a License

There’s a song I love that talks about not abusing grace. That phrase has stuck with me. Because while I know I’m forgiven—while I know Christ already paid the price—I never want to take that lightly.

Sometimes I think we forget: grace is free, but it’s not cheap.

And while His mercy covers our failures, it doesn’t give us a license to sin. That’s not the heart of someone who loves Jesus. That’s not the heart I want to have.

A Gentle Reminder

So today, I’m reminding myself—and maybe reminding you, too:

We don’t have to be perfect.
But we do need to stay close to Him.
We do need to abide.

As John 15:4 says,

“Abide in Me, and I in you.”

That’s how the fruit grows. That’s how meekness takes root. Not by trying harder, but by staying closer.

From One Redeemed Mess to Another

I share this because I always want to be real with you. If you’ve ever lost your cool and felt ashamed after, I get it. You are not alone. And more importantly, you are not unloved.

God’s not finished with us yet. He’s still working. Still shaping. Still forgiving.

And I’m so grateful for that. 🤍
