We recently stayed at Pocono Point RV Campground and really enjoyed our visit.
One of the things we liked most was our flat pull-through site. Setup was easy, and the campground has a more open feel than many heavily wooded campgrounds. For us, that meant fewer bugs, which is always a plus.
If you’re someone who loves camping deep in the woods, this may not be your style. But if you prefer a more open campground with easy access, it might be just what you’re looking for.
Open Sites and Fewer Bugs
Our site was level and easy to get into, which always makes setup less stressful. We also appreciated the open layout of the campground. Unlike many wooded campgrounds, we didn’t feel surrounded by trees, and we noticed there were far fewer bugs than we’re used to dealing with.
For us, that’s a big plus. We enjoy spending time outside without constantly swatting mosquitoes.
A Convenient Location
One of the campground’s biggest strengths is its location. It’s an easy pull off the Pennsylvania Turnpike, making arrival and departure simple.
You will hear some road noise from the highway, but it didn’t bother us. The convenience more than made up for it.
We also liked being close to everyday necessities. Walmart and other stores are only about 30 minutes away, making it easy to pick up groceries, supplies, or anything you may have forgotten at home.
Things to Do Nearby
If you enjoy outdoor recreation, there’s plenty to do in the area.
One of the biggest attractions nearby is Beltzville State Park, which offers boating, fishing, hiking, and beautiful scenery.
We also discovered the D&L Trail, a wonderful place for walking, biking, and enjoying views along the Lehigh River.
If you’re looking for a day trip, the charming town of Jim Thorpe is just a short drive away. It’s a fun place to spend the day exploring shops, restaurants, and local history.
Tent Sites Along the Stream
Although we stay in our RV, we noticed that Pocono Point also has tent sites. Some of them sit right next to a small stream, which looked like a peaceful spot for anyone who enjoys tent camping and being a little closer to nature.
Campground Amenities
Pocono Point isn’t a large resort-style campground with endless activities, but it does offer several amenities for guests.
There is a swimming pool, a clubhouse with free games including air hockey and foosball, and a laundry room. We also noticed that the water was incredibly soft, which was a nice surprise.
Sometimes simple is exactly what we’re looking for, and this campground provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
Who Will Enjoy This Campground?
This campground is a great fit for campers who enjoy convenience, nearby attractions, and a more relaxed atmosphere.
If you love being tucked deep in the woods, this may not be your ideal campground. But if you enjoy level sites, fewer bugs, easy access to outdoor activities, and being close to shopping and services, Pocono Point is definitely worth considering.
Our Final Thoughts
Overall, Pocono Point RV Campground was a great fit for us.
Between the level pull-through sites, fewer bugs, convenient location, nearby attractions, and relaxed atmosphere, it checked a lot of boxes for our camping style. We especially enjoyed being close to Beltzville State Park, the D&L Trail, and Jim Thorpe while still having a comfortable place to come back to each evening.
It’s a campground we’d definitely consider staying at again.
