A career never stood a chance...Iwas made for this.

I wish I could credit the person who made this, but I have no idea who created the original.

Someone shared this picture on Facebook the other day, and it really made me pause. I looked at it and thought, this is exactly how I feel in this season of my life. I may not love cooking, but I do love homemaking. I love creating a peaceful home. I love the quiet work that is simple and steady. It is good with my soul.

And honestly, I believe this is what God made me for.

Looking Back at My Story

When I look back over my life, I see how many chapters Jesus has restored in ways I never could have on my own. I am not living under condemnation. I can just see now how often I stepped outside of what God had for me. I spent years making decisions without His direction. Years following expectations that did not match how He designed me.

There were choices that changed the course of my life. Having sex before marriage. Working outside the home for many years. Those choices shaped my story and the story of my children. And the truth is, I was miserable in that world. I was never made to chase a career or live under that kind of pressure. God made me to be a homemaker and a mom, and that has always been the place where my heart settles.

How God Redeemed My Mess

God knew the paths I would choose. He knew the twists and the turns. And even though I made a mess, He redeems it. I do not want to live in regret. I want to live with gratitude for where I am now and for everything He has taught me through those hard lessons.

Because now I get to come alongside other women who may feel like they have made a mess too. There is something powerful about saying, God met me in my mess, and He will meet you in yours.

Finding Peace in God’s Design

This picture reminded me of who God made me to be and why this season feels so settled. When I follow His voice, He leads me into the life that fits the way He created me. Not the life that impresses others. Not the life society tells us we should want. The life He carefully designed for me.

Staying Close to Him

We really do need to stay in close contact with God. He will guide us. He will lead us. And all we have to do is follow Him in trust.

A Resource That Helped Shape My Understanding of Womanhood

Before I close, I want to share a resource that had a big impact on how I see God’s design for women. Years ago, I went through the study True Woman 101 by Mary Kassian and Nancy Leigh DeMoss. It helped me understand how intentional God was when He created male and female, and how He designed us for specific purposes that bring joy and peace when we walk in them.

The study talks about how our culture pushes women toward being powerful, independent, self focused and constantly in control. And yet, so many of us lived that way for years and felt empty. True Woman 101 brings us back to Scripture. It shows how God’s design is not outdated. It is beautiful. It is freeing. And it helps women delight in the purpose He gave us from the very beginning.

If you want to go deeper into what biblical womanhood truly is, and how God shapes us through His Word, you may want to take a look at this study. Here is my affiliate link if you want to check it out:

Conclusion

Homemaking may not look glamorous. It may not bring applause. But it brings a peace that settles deep into the heart God gave me. And today, I am grateful that He knows me better than I know myself and that He has been faithful to redeem every chapter.
