As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that cleaning doesn’t have to be a full-day event. The truth is, I don’t have the energy (or desire!) to scrub every corner like I used to. But I still love having a tidy, peaceful home. Over the years, I’ve found a few cleaning tools that make the job easier, faster, and even a little enjoyable.
Here are some of my favorite cleaning tools that help me keep things simple without wearing myself out.
1. My Handheld Vacuum for Quick Cleanups
I can’t tell you how often I grab my handheld vacuum throughout the day. Whether it’s dog hair on the couch, crumbs under the kitchen table, or dirt tracked in from outside, this little tool is my go-to for quick cleanups.
➡️ Handheld Vacuum
It’s lightweight, cordless, and perfect for those small messes that don’t deserve a full vacuuming session. I also love it for my RV!
2. My Shark Robot Vacuum
Let’s be honest, bending, sweeping, and vacuuming used to be a daily routine for me—but now, I let my Shark Robot vacuum do the heavy lifting.
➡️ Shark Robot Vacuum
It quietly runs while I’m doing other things, and it’s amazing how much dust and pet hair it picks up. For me, this little helper is worth every penny because it helps me maintain a clean home without the effort. Believe it or not, my dogs leave it alone. I named it Vincent.
3. My O-Cedar Mop
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I love products that are practical and well-designed. My O-Cedar mop fits that perfectly.
➡️ O-Cedar Mop
It has a built-in wringer, so I don’t have to bend or twist to squeeze out the water. Plus, the reusable mop heads wash up great, saving me money in the long run. I was 67 before I got one. I don’t know how I lived without it.
4. Norwex Cloths
These are one of those things I didn’t believe in at first—but now I’m hooked. Norwex cloths clean with just water, which means no harsh chemicals or sprays.
➡️ Norwex Cloths
They pick up dust, fingerprints, and grime better than anything else I’ve tried, and they’re gentle on surfaces. I keep one in almost every room. I rarely use paper towels anymore since I got these.

5. Dish Soap Wand
This one is so simple, but it makes doing dishes less of a chore. I fill my dish soap wand with my favorite soap and leave it by the sink.
➡️ Dish Soap Wand Kit
It’s perfect for washing a few dishes or cleaning the sink, and it saves me from constantly running water or using too much soap. I also use them to clean my shower while I am showering!
6. Swedish Dish Cloths
If you haven’t tried Swedish dish cloths, you’re missing out.
➡️ Swedish Dish Cloths
They’re reusable, absorbent, and dry quickly, which means no smelly dish rags. I use them for wiping counters, spills, and even cleaning glass. They’re one of those small changes that make a big difference in daily life.
Why Simplifying Matters
The older I get, the more I realize that less really is more. These tools help me clean smarter, not harder, and they allow me to enjoy my home instead of feeling like I’m always maintaining it.
If you’re in a season of life where you want to keep things clean and simple without all the fuss, I hope this list gives you a few new ideas. It’s never too late to make cleaning easier and life a little lighter.
