There’s something heavy on my heart today, and I feel led to share it here with you. Maybe you’re in a season like mine—one filled with fear, heartache, and uncertainty—and you just need to know you’re not the only one.

When Faith Feels Weak

I’ve always been a praying woman. I ask God daily to cover my family with His protection—to guard my husband, my children, and everyone in my circle. I’ve pleaded with Him to keep tragedy far from our lives. But over the past year, our family has been hit hard… twice. And both times, it was my daughter’s family that bore the brunt of it.

She’s now home from work, fighting a battle with cancer. And it’s shaken me—not my faith, but my heart. I still trust God. I still believe He is good. I am not mad at Him. But if I’m being honest… I am disappointed.

Admitting the Struggle

This morning, I reached out to a friend. Sometimes we just need to say it out loud: “I’m struggling.” I’ve been praying constantly, asking God to give me more peace, more faith—because faith is a gift, and we can ask Him for more of it. I want to trust His promises and His sovereignty, but I’m human, and sometimes I fail.

My friend—another strong Christian woman who is walking through her own cancer journey—encouraged me deeply. She reminded me not to lean on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). And hearing her say that she, too, has moments of weakness helped me breathe a little easier. We’re not alone in these emotions, and we shouldn’t shame ourselves for them.

Staying in Our Lane

As a mom, it’s painful to watch your child suffer. But she’s an adult. She has her own life, her own walk with God. And I’m learning—slowly and tearfully—how to stay in my lane and support her without letting the worry overtake me. Still, the fear has cost me sleep, and the heaviness feels unrelenting some days.

I’m asking God to fill that gap—the one between what I believe and what I feel. I want Him to build a stronger bridge of trust in my heart. I want more peace, more confidence in Him.

You’re Not Alone

If you’re reading this and you’re weary too, please hear me: You are not alone.

There are moms and grandmothers all over the world silently fighting these same battles—praying over their children, feeling helpless, trying to hold onto hope. We all have moments when our faith feels weak. And that’s okay.

We were never meant to fake strong. We were created to lean on the strength of our Savior.

Get in His Word. Surround yourself with encouraging people. Step outside into His creation—go for a walk, breathe in His beauty. And most of all, give yourself grace.

Let yourself admit when you’re struggling. Then ask God to fill you again. He will.

Final Thoughts

Today is a beautiful day where I live, and I plan to take a walk and reconnect with the One who holds all things together. He is still God. He is still good. And He is still with us—right in the middle of the mess.

If you’re feeling broken, burdened, or weak in your faith…
Take what you need. Leave the rest. Be blessed.

With love and hope,
Kathy
