There’s something about walking through a deep valley—especially when it’s your child who is hurting—that shifts your entire perspective.
Suddenly, all the things that used to feel so big… don’t.
The overflowing laundry basket, the long to-do list, the running errands, the social media scroll, the dust on the shelves—they fade into the background.
Because in the face of something as life-changing and sobering as a cancer diagnosis, you see clearly. You start to understand what really matters.
Faith. Family. Time. Presence. Love.
Those are the things we hold onto tightly. And everything else? We can loosen our grip.
I’m watching my daughter walk this incredibly difficult road with strength, humor, honesty, and grace. Even though she’s scared—and who wouldn’t be?—she’s finding a way to laugh, to be present for her children, to stay grounded. She’s choosing joy. She’s noticing the small things. She’s recognizing the kindness and compassion of others. She’s overwhelmed—in the best way—by love.
And through it all, I hear the whisper in my spirit: “Nothing else matters.”
Not in a dismissive way, but in a clarifying one.
This trial has helped us all see God’s hand moving in quiet, powerful ways—through people, through provision, and through perfect timing. We’ve seen God show up in donations, meals, encouraging texts, and silent prayers that rise in the middle of the night.
We don’t understand the why, but we see the who—God Himself. Present. Steady. Loving.

Perspective Is the Gift of the Trial
No one wants to walk through suffering. But if we must walk through it, let it open our eyes. Let it teach us how to love more freely, live more fully, and focus more deeply on what really matters.
This is the kind of refining only a fire can do.
So today, friend, I pray that no matter what you are facing, you’ll pause and ask:
What truly matters right now?
What can I let go of?
Where is God showing up?
Let’s fix our eyes on the eternal.
Let’s hold our people close.
Let’s treasure this moment—yes, even this one.
Because nothing else really matters.
