Fridays used to make me cranky because they were laundry days. But not anymore. Here’s what changed.

Over the past month or so, I’ve been unusually irritable when it comes to doing my laundry. I suspect this might be because we’re wearing more clothing since it’s winter. The chore has become increasingly daunting.

Here’s the thing. Years ago, after I retired, I decided to make Fridays my laundry day. It worked well for a while, but now, 12 years later, it’s become a lot!

In my empty nest and retirement years, I find solace in having a routine and schedule. However, the reality is that these routines often require adjustments. In this instance, I had to make a change.

Initially, I decided to do a load of laundry every day. But I soon realized that this wasn’t sustainable. So, I switched to doing a load every other day.

I’m happy with this change now. In fact, I’ve even started saving my whites for once a week. Initially, I tried washing them with the darks, but that just didn’t feel right.

What strategies do you employ to make the most of your retirement years? Remember, it’s crucial to be flexible and adapt our routines to suit our physical abilities and even combat boredom.
