As crazy as it sounds: Choose gratitude!
It may sound a bit unusual, but the act of expressing gratitude and thankfulness to others can actually improve our own sense of well-being.
The term “unappreciated” refers to not being given the recognition or thanks that is deserved. It describes a situation where someone’s efforts, skills, or contributions are not properly acknowledged or valued.
For example, you might feel unappreciated if you put in a lot of hard work on a project, but no one recognizes your efforts.
Consider this: often we do things for others and never receive a thank you or any appreciation. But reflect on a time when you’ve done something for someone. Was it for your mother? Your spouse? Do you make it a point to thank them for all the small things they’ve done?
Who is someone who has encouraged you or helped you achieve success? Do you reflect on this and occasionally send them a message to thank them? Did someone help you get a job? Has someone encoruaged you to start you small buysienss? How about on the anniversary of your new job, you reach out to them and thank them or send them a gift.
The adage “you reap what you sow” is often perceived negatively, but it can also be interpreted positively.
“The point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously.”
2 Corinthians 9:6 CSB
While you may sometimes feel unappreciated, remember that showing gratitude for someone’s kindness towards you will bring positive returns in kind.
